My name is Nutan Kashyap, and I am a Certified Life Coach and Financial Planner for women. I am a mother of a 4 year old daughter and a wife to a loving husband. I have supportive in-laws and am living a happy life with everything I desire. But, was my life always this way? Was it easy to have all of this? The answer is no. Life is what we make of it.
In 2013, I got married in an arranged marriage. Being a young girl, I had many expectations from my husband and in-laws. Unfortunately, when there are many expectations, there are bound to be conflicts and disagreements. And that was the case for me too. I faced daily fights and arguments. I was not allowed to go anywhere or make any decisions. My life was limited to going from home to office and office to home. This continued for 2.5 years until I decided I couldn’t handle it anymore and left to stay with my parents.
When I told my parents about my decision, they were not happy but told me, “it’s your life, your decision.” This one sentence opened my eyes to the fact that we expect too much from others and get stuck on what they will do for us. But, it’s our life and our decisions that matter. I decided to give my relationship another chance and went back, but this time I had nothing to lose. I gained the courage to speak up and let my non-negotiables be known. And as I started to work on myself, everything started to fall into place.
During this time, one thing that always kept me strong was my financial independence. I wasn’t worried about how I would survive or pay for my expenses if no one supported me. This realization led me to believe that financial independence is a must for every female. It empowers us to overcome any obstacles in life.
That is why I am on a mission to help women achieve independence in all aspects of their lives: financially, emotionally, and socially.
